Our favorite Texas Island  has two main kinds of places to stay for Spring Break:  Hotels and South Padre Island Rental Condos.  We've got some of the better picks for both.  In either case, be prepared for the typical Spring Break set-up.

Details

Regardless of where you go, most places have a security deposit, a portion of which is non-refundable.  Access is typically limited to registered guests sporting the required wristand (though that non-refundable deposit is the wristband fee you will have to pay if you want to bring back some cutie to your room who isn't a guest of the hotel).  You might also notice fire extinguishers and patio furniture removed, less they become projectiles from the 9th floor some early morning.  Most South Padre Island Rentals will also have an increased security presence just to keep things in check.

Aside from that, there are several popular choices for your South Padre Spring Break.  Here we go:

South Padre Hotel Guide

Ocean-front rooms or southing across the street?  The choice is largely dictated by the cash you are willing to put down for your South Padre Island Rental.

Radisson Beach Resort

Located in the middle of the action, this resort is directly on the beach and has all the amenities.  Pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts, and restaurant, and a pool-side bar.  This full-service resort is considered the best on the island.  If you're lucky and have the group to manage it, ask for the 2 bedroom condos- they come complete with a kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, and a large living room area.  Nice!

Also, Coca-Cola beach is directly behind the hotel.  You can hear the bands right from your room.  Best of all, you can walk to the party!

Bahia Mar Resort

Famous for its 30-person Jacuzzi, this South Padre Island Rental resort sprawls out across 15 acres and is another Spring Break hot spot.  It feels like a condo village.  Noteworthy is the bar here, great for your pre-parties.  All the rooms here are clean and have A/C, but the decor is somewhat dated.  Beware if you're expecting an ocean view, many of the rooms here face directions away from the water.  Still, this place has a great central sun deck and is a good value.  It also specifically caters to the Spring Break crowd.  During the high season, this place is nick-named BMU (Bahia Mar University), not to worry, though, the only studies being conducted here are on the hot bodies hanging around the pool.

South Padre Island Rental Condos

These two popular South Padre Island Rentals are mainly comprised of privately owned condominiums.  Most a quite nice inside as they are owned by families who regularly vacation on the island.  Rental prices can also be quite reasonable.

In order to stay at these places you'll have to go through a private rental agency.  Just beware of whom your dealing with, some agencies are more concerned with getting your money rather than making sure you have a great time.  To ensure the latter, we recommend Inertia Tours.

Saida Royale Towers

This South Padre Island Rental gets our vote as the best for all-around South Padre Spring Break value.  It's actually 5 separate condo towers with kitchens, private balconies, and ocean views.  You'll find 3 pools and 3 Jacuzzis among the amenities here.  There's also a poolside bar and grill known to be a hot spot for many a Spring Break.  As you might guess, this place get completely taken over during Spring Break.  You will meet fellow Breakers from all across the country here.

Gulfview Condos

This is your basic, budget South Padre Island Rental.  All rooms are one-bedroom condos with a kitchen and A/C.  It's about a 500 yard walk to the beach, but it is pretty close to the other high-energy action along the beach.

As the photo suggests, it's not the most stylish place on the island, but it's got a clean bed and cool air for those few hours a night you'll actually be using that hotel room.
